The first Aligarh Mayor election was in 1995. As of 2018, Mohammad Furkan of the Bahujan Samaj Party is the current Mayor of Aligarh Municipal Corporation. Mohammad Furqan defeated BJP candidate Rajiv Agarwal by an edge of 11,990 votes in what was basically an immediate challenge to turn into the principal Muslim to possess the post after freedom.
He did his post graduation from Moulana Azad Urdu University Hyderabad.

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is a Central University laid out by an Act of Parliament in 1998.
